In the eventuality that you need to figure out whether two directories have the same information, then the fastest method to do so is via the diff command in Windows console. Then again, if you take this approach, you should bear in mind that you need to create a scenario to check if the command works in the first place.

RekSFV is a tool dedicated to helping you compare the content of two folders using numerous file hash algorithms, including but not limited to SHA512, SHA1, SFC, MD5, MD4, RIPEMD160 and SHA256.

Before you can get started, you can select the desired hash for the scan from the Skiplist & Filetypes tab from the Settings menu. As the name of the menu suggests, you can also enable a list that the app should overlook when comparing the content.

While the comparison itself is automatic, you can customize the behavior of the app minutely. You can skip zero byte files to the checksum, get warnings when the data does not match, delete or rename bad files, move the files that fail the check to a new folder or add custom comments to the checksum files.

The verification employed by the program is recursive and hence, you should be able to preview the contents of the directories compared in standard input. You can get started with this tool by dragging and dropping the desired directories.

Depending on the specifications and requirements of the project, you can also take the time to go through the Settings menu and customize the behavior of the tool by enabling multiple instances, prevent system sleep mode or specify the extensions or types of files to be skipped.
