Scan EXE or DLL files to check what .NET Framework version was used in development, and whether it's the debug, or release version of the target program. #Assembly analyzer #Executable scanner #NET framework version #Assembly #NET framework #Debug
Creating applications or video games can be done through different programming languages. These rely on specific libraries and components to make functions work, with a popular one being .NET Framework. Chances are programs don’t run unless source libraries are not on the same computer, and with Release or Debug you can check the .NET Framework requirement of programs on your computer.
The application doesn’t have to be installed in order to function, and is good to go right after download. Just make sure that .NET Framework is also on your PC, with Release or Debug not only checking for it, but also relying on it to function. However, it can be carried around, and used directly from a thumb drive.
A simple way to see how the application works is to simply target its own executable, since it was built with .NET Framework. Loading a file is either possible through the browse dialog, the dropping it over the main window. Note that shortcuts are not read, with supported formats for EXE and DLL.
In case the target app is not built with such assemblies, or the wrong file format is provided, a prompt shows up to inform you. If it is built with .NET Framework, all required info is displayed in the main window. As such, you can easily see whether it’s a release or debug version, and what framework version it was built with.
The version can be copied manually and saved. Sadly, the application does not provide download links for detected assemblies, so you need to go online and grab the specific version yourself. For quick check of a file, it’s a practical option to assign a hotkey to the program’s shortcut.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Release or Debug is sure to come in handy, especially when some programs refuse to run, but without letting you know .NET Framework is required, and not installed on your PC. It can be used on the go, and requires little effort from start to end.
