For those who work with different languages on a regular basis, keeping a database of words and definitions that they can access from their computer can be an excellent learning tool. There are various applications that can create dictionaries for users, as well as ones with predefined dictionaries. VocabLift is a program designed to work with LIFT dictionary project files created by other software, enabling additional editing and options.
It is essential that an existing LIFT project is available when VocabLift starts, any failure to load the correct file type will result in being locked out of the program and a potential crash. The application cannot be accessed in any way, including the load option, if users fail to select the appropriate file.
Granted, VocabLift is designed specifically to work with those files, yet the inability to access even a menu screen means it is quite easy to essentially be locked out of the program by mistake. A basic menu screen and a toolbar would solve that problem and allow users to load the correct file with ease.
The main purpose of VocabLift is to create flashcard decks that users can test themselves with, ideally improving their knowledge in the process. The application does this well, with plenty of options for making decks, quick tools to copy or edit the decks, as well as adding sound files to various cards.
The cards are displayed in groups of four, with the definition or aspect of the word shown, such as its sound file. Then users needs to select the correct word that matches the card. The system is primarily automated and works well, it can be quickly set up and put to use in moments. VocabLift also offers different game modes with the cards, adding variety and options to how the program performs.
VocabLift is simple tool that can be challenging to set up, however, once it is set up, it performs well and becomes much more user friendly. Being able to edit or adjust cards is simple, the games can be modified to be more challenging. VocabLift is a useful application for those who work with digital dictionaries.
