Break down large files into multiple parts of custom size values, and easily join them back together in a simple process which can be performed on the go. #File splitter #File joiner #File sizer #Splitter #Split #Joiner
Splitting large files into multiple chunks can still come in handy for distributing large files, especially over the web, where limitations are frequently encountered. One method of doing so is to create an archive, but specialized applications like Split File skip the archiving process, and target your file directly.
The application comes in a lightweight package, which doesn’t even require installation to make its features available for use. On the one hand, this prevents system registries from being modified, buts not affecting PC stability. What’s more, it enables you to use it from a USB flash drive, and carry it around where needed.
Accommodation is among the last things you need to worry about, thanks to the simple, yet intuitive design, accompanied by documentation, so you don’t get stuck along the way. Sadly, you need to rely on the browse dialog to load files, because drag and drop is not supported, and the application doesn’t integrate itself in the context menu.
You might end up scratching your head for a while when asked to provide a destination for new files. This is because the open dialog doesn’t simply target a folder, and you also need to write down the name of new files. There’s no option to simply leave the destination the same as the source.
Configuring the process is only done by specifying a numerical value for size, with a related drop-down menu to choose the format time, such as KB, MB, or GB. Luckily, the application also shows the number of parts to be created.
It can take a bit of time to process large files, especially if you split them in multiple chunks. What’s more, you need to use the application again for bundling them back into the original form, since there’s no option to create an automated merge tool.
To sum it up, programs, video games, and even specific project files tend to take more and more space, and sharing them online isn’t that easy, especially if you bump into size limitations. Split File helps you out through intuitive options to split large files into parts of custom size, and even though an automatic join utility is not deployed, it’s worth a try overall.
