Win32 Console ToolBox

You might think that small applications are not useful, but in our experience, a simple script or a lightweight console tool might save you hours you would otherwise spend on tedious tasks. Having that in mind, the developers of the Win32 Console ToolBox created a collection of command-line applications that carry out different tasks for you.

Despite not having a standard GUI, all the tools that come with the package are pretty easy to use. To see examples and a list of all the available arguments and options, you can access the help section using “/?”.

There are various tools available, related to file management, system commands, cataloging, errors, and more. Below you will be able to read a bit about each, but the "Readme" file in the downloaded archive will tell you even more.

First, there is the DeTab tool, which can easily replace all the tabs in one or more files with spaces. It can process entire folders and even bypass read-only attributes. Backup files can be created to avoid accidental data loss. You can use NewLine to use a single LF or a CR/LF sequence to end each line in each of the input files.

FileCase and FileType are two of the other applications related to file management. While the first can rename a file to uppercase or lowercase, the latter can reveal the type of one or more files in a given location. For executable files, you will be able to see the architecture, the CPU type, the system description, and so on. To set the timestamp of a file, you can use the Touch application.

Global is another tool in the Win32 Console ToolBox, one that can execute an application, command or script in the current directory recursively. That means that all the subdirectories under the main folder are processed as well.

Win32 Console ToolBox also includes a ShutDown utility that allows you to automatically log off, shut down, restart or power off the system.   Last but not least, the WebCat tool allows you to catalog all your media files in a single HTML page.
