Simply removing files from your computer doesn’t meant they’re permanently gone, with some specialized applications which can recover them from HDD clusters. On the other hand, some programs like XT File Shredder Lizard are designed to help you remove files once and for all, with no chances of bringing them back.

The application has no restrictions regarding file types, so you’re able to remove just about anything. There are several ways through which to add files to the list. On the one hand, you can use the default Send To context menu to beam files to the application. Drag and drop is not supported, but there are dedicated browse dialogs to load files, or an entire folder.

To ensure files can’t be recovered, there are several algorithms at your disposal. These are selected from the options panel, with four options like simple, which uses one pass, DoD with either 3 or 7 passes, and a powerful method which uses 30 passes. Files you select are all shown in a list, with additional info like path, and type. Files aren’t removed as soon as you load them. Before putting the process in motion you have the possibility to make a selection from the list to only remove those items, wipe content of Recycle Bin, or remove some files from the list.

As mentioned above, it can take some time to remove all files, and it’s best to cease all other activities during the process. An additional log window can be toggled in order to analyze the process. Sadly, the log can’t be saved to file, nor can you copy info to manually save it.
