If you often find yourself having more than one copy of the same document on your computer, you might need to start to regularly look for duplicate files using a dedicated solution such as i-DeClone.

When you run this app for the first time, you can decide which user mode best suits your expertise level: advanced, standard or beginner.

If you are not sure as to which way to go, you can choose the standard mode and switch to a different one from the Settings window later on.

When you want to start looking for duplicate files, you can apply one of the multiple built-in presets that make it easy for you to quickly look for music tracks, movies, photos, documents, e-books and folders. You also get the possibility to examine all available files and find the dupes.

i-DeClone can look for exact duplicates by default, but you can also set it to find files that are similar to a user-defined degree.

Moreover, you can create a list with all of the attributes that should be taken into consideration when determining if some files are clones or not. Such parameters are date of creation, file extension, rating, title, tag, and so on. If you are working as an expert, you can choose if you want small files to be skipped by default or if you need this option disabled.

Once the clones have been identified, you need to decide the action to be taken and the file to be preserved. More specifically, you can keep the newest or the oldest files, the biggest or the smallest ones, or the first or last from each group.

If you do not want to delete any data, you can create symbolic links.
