If you are having a hard time hunting for duplicate files and pinpointing the useless ones, you might want to check out this little tool. Aya is a neat and easy-to-use disk utility that can help you clean and keep a cleaner system.

Aya may look like a pocket application at first, but after you dive a little deeper, you'll see that the tool is a bit more complex. The first thing you'll see after running the app is the disk/drive selection tab. All the detected drives are going to be listed there, under a color determined by the app. It appears that the initial tab can display only three drives at once, so if you have more than that, you should click the small rectangle symbol, which enlarges the UI accordingly.

After you figure out the disk selector, you can proceed to select one and prepare it for a scan. Simply click on a  drive and hit scan to move towards the next steps.

The results of the first scan are going to be listed by their size and usage percentage, and they are not going to be duplicated items, just large files. These types of files are a part of the Top Files category, and each time you want to search for large files on your drives, this is where you should start.

In order to find and erase duplicates, you have to change the category to Duplicates. This section will also provide you some criteria for a more accurate search. For example, you can set size and matching parameters before executing a scan, so you can focus on a smaller area.

The Settings menu has a good number of tweaks to it, most of them focusing on the scanning process. However, you can also modify the interface a bit, go over some of the filters and manage an exclusion list.

Aya looks like a powerful system tool that can easily take care of your useless files. Regarding the layout, the interface can be counted as one of the main strengths of this app, due to the fact that even a user who has never employed such tools can find his way around it pretty quickly, thus making the app a good choice for both technical or casual operators.
