IBM - Hitachi Feature Tool

IBM - Hitachi Feature Tool is a useful application for the users that own a Hitachi hard drive and want to make changes to their parameters. Its main purpose is to access the advanced features included by some of the company’s disk drives.

The Deskstar and Travelstar hard drives include features that cannot be accessed from the operating system or the BIOS. These include changing the predefined capacity of the hard drive when the BIOS does not detect the correct size. This tool allows you to create a bootable floppy disk or CD-ROM with the required tools for changing the disk parameters.

You can use this tool for enabling the write cache feature and to switch the UDMA status for the hard drive. It also provides information about the status of the hard disk such as the device temperature.

In order to use the program you need to burn the CD image to a disk and reboot your computer. If your computer uses a floppy disk drive, you should download the diskette creator and follow the wizard instructions in order to create the bootable floppy disk.
