SSDs have become the future of what it means to have a hard drive installed on your PC, as they provide transfer speeds tens of times higher than regular drives, they are lighter, more physically resistant to blunt trauma, and more. However, such great difference from the traditional Hard drive can only be possible with SSDs have a completely different architecture, both it how it is physically created, and how it responds to software. This means that you now need dedicated SSD-oriented software for when you want to perform scans and maintenance repairs on your hard drive.

Patriot SATA Toolbox is one such SSD-oriented software, although it is further limited to work on the Patriot Burst series of SSDs, which isn't as popular as other brands. However, those of you who do use these SSDs in your rigs, you'll be glad to know that they also provide a dedicated tool that allows you to perform  S.M.A.R.T. scanning, optimization, secure erasing, and firmware upgrade of your Patriot Burst SSD. The program was also tested to see if it is capable of handling other brands of SSD, but unfortunately, that didn't seem to be the case.

While an SSD is made to be majorly more resistant to the common hazards that plague regular hard drives, they are affected eventually, and while not as often as with regular drives, maintenance is needed once in a while. As such, Patriot SATA Toolbox provides all the basic tools you usually see in other SSD cleaning and optimization tools, such as the ability to perform S.M.A.R.T. scanning, optimization, secure erasing, and upgrade the firmware of your SSD.

While on paper Patriot SATA Toolbox provides you with all the tools you may need to keep your SSD in tip-top shape, the fact that it only supports a specific series of SSD from a lesser-known brand makes it rather limited to just the users of that SSD brand.
