Sometimes it happens that you need to carry out a tedious task on your PC while leaving it. Decoding a movie, copying a large amount of data, installing a large application or defragmenting are just a few examples of situations when you must leave your PC to do its job before being able to power it off. Such circumstances require a dedicated shutdown scheduler to make sure the PC is turned off once the operation is completed. AceShutdown is just one example of tools that you can use.

This simple and lightweight application requires no installation. It is ready to use once you launch the main executable file, displaying a small and straightforward GUI that bundles all the options you need in a single window, with no additional menus or options.

You are prompted to select the power task you need the computer to perform. AceShutdown can schedule computer restart, shutdown, sleep, hibernation and signing out the current user.

Moving on to the right side of the window, you can easily select the time interval for carrying out the task. Two editable boxes allow you to enter the number of hours and minutes, with no other option for seconds.

To start the countdown timer, all you have to do is press the “Start” button. Only then does the application display the time remaining before the power task is completed. To prevent AceShutdown from getting in the way and interrupting your workflow, you can minimize it to the system tray with a single click. The application remains open, and the countdown timer stays active, while the application is running in the background.

AceShutdown makes it possible to schedule computer shutdowns, restarts, sleep and hibernation, or signing out the PC user after a period of time of your choice. Surely, this comes in handy when you need the PC to power off overnight or after completing certain tasks. However, what would add to its value is being able to schedule power tasks once another tedious operation is completed, as in, being able to link power off scheduling to an external task.
