Auto Shutdown

There are lots of tutorials about how to schedule your computer to shut down out there, on the Internet. Some of them provide complicated solutions (especially for the day-to-day user), while others aren't comprehensive enough, which is exactly why most of us turn to third-party apps for this particular task.

As its name clearly suggests, Auto Shutdown is one of those third-party tools capable of helping you schedule shutdown operations. Just like most other utilities of this sort, it can also help you restart or hibernate your personal computer after specific periods of time.

Before anything else, let's point out the most important and most evident fact: in its current form, the application is somewhat limited, so to speak, as it only allows you to perform all three of the aforementioned power management operations based on a series of predefined "timers."

You can choose one of the following timers: twenty minutes, forty minutes, and one, two, or four hours. Of course, it does get the job done, but the truth is, it's no way near as useful as other apps of this type that provide you with far more and better scheduling options.

Which is quite a shame, we have to say, since this is a fairly good-looking application with a simple main window and minimalist and very responsive user interface and could definitely do with a couple more features.

At the end of the day, though, we can't say that Auto Shutdown is a bad app solely based on its minimalist feature set.

Sure, we could point out various improvements that would make the app more broadly appealing, but all that matters is the fact that it gets the job done in a very straightforward fashion, without requiring anything more than two or three clicks on your part.
