Auto Shutdown

Auto Shutdown is a plain and simple software utility that gives you the possibility to quickly schedule a computer power option: shutdown, log off, or restart. This can be done by entering the exact time for executing the command.

It comes packed with just a couple of intuitive options that can be easily set up by anyone, even PC users with no previous experience in such tools.

Setting it up is a fast task that shouldn't give you any trouble. As far as the interface goes, Auto Shutdown opts for a small window with a clear-cut structure, which displays all options available.

It shows the current system time in hours, minutes and seconds (12-hour format) and enables you to specify the sharp time for triggering the task. Once you choose the preferred power option between log off, shut down and restart, you can click a button to apply settings.

In the following step, the program automatically gets minimized to the system tray, where it silently keeps track of the remaining time without showing any notifications. Although it's possible to stop the timer, the tool doesn't implement a feature for showing a reminder a few seconds before triggering the power option, in order to let you cancel the task if you change your mind.

As we expected, it didn't hog system performance in our tests, as it needed low CPU and RAM to work properly. No error dialogs popped up and it didn't freeze or crash.

Too bad that it hasn't been updated for a long time. Otherwise, Auto Shutdown offers a simple and effective solution for scheduling your PC to shut down, log off or restart at a specific time.
