A lightweight application that provides a simple way to configure apps or scripts to launch automatically when you login to Windows #Task scheduler #Startup item #Automatic startup #Startup #Scheduler #Schedule
Windows allows its users to configure startup items, meaning applications that are launched upon user login. Whether we are talking about applications we use on a daily basis or scripts that you need to execute at system launch, this Windows function really comes in handy.
Auto Start Tool allows one-click access to a few Windows tools related to startup items. You can use it to schedule Windows tasks, add new items to the startup folder of your operating system or configure Windows to run a registry key upon launch.
There is no need to install Auto Start Tool, as it is up, running and ready to use as soon as you double-click on the executable file. The small one-window interface bundles all the available functions, allowing you to choose which to execute.
With Auto Start Tool, you can easily use the task scheduler in Windows to run a specific file. You are prompted to choose the file to use and then assign a name to the newly created task. The application quickly performs all the necessary changes in the system to allow the file to run when the user logs in and displays a confirmation message once the task is completed. The Task Scheduler is then opened for you to see the list of tasks. Keep in mind that you can also undo the changes by deleting a task you previously created.
Alternatively, you can also use Auto Start Tool to add a new item to the startup folder of Windows. You are again prompted to choose the file, which can be of any type. Shortcuts created in the startup folder can be erased just as easily as they were created.
Last but not least, Auto Start Tool can also configure Windows to run a script when you login to Windows.
The name of Auto Start Tool is a bit deceiving, as the application is not a classic startup manager for inexperienced users. Regardless of the task you choose, the application opens the System32 folder. In other words, you should know what you are doing when using this tool.
