Barry's Sleep Timer is a great tool to have for users who don't wish to constantly worry about leaving their computers on. If you are falling asleep while watching a movie, a stream, or any other material, you should think about employing this little applet.
Such timers are widely spread, and they come in different shapes and sizes. The focus of this discussion is a tool that brings nothing more to the table than a countdown-based shutdown — no restart or sleep mode supported.
The app's interface is very simple and straightforward, sporting a single box where you can input the number of hours until shutdown. The not-so-great aspect of Barry's Sleep Timer is the impossibility to select minutes or seconds. However, if you wish to input times lower than one hour, you can work with half measures, but you'll have to do the conversion yourself.
For example, if you input 0.50 in the box, the timer will be set to 30 minutes. The 0.1 value will result in a 36 seconds countdown, and so on.
To conclude, Barry's Sleep Timer is by far the most advanced and capable shutdown timer, but it does the job and requires minimum effort from the user's side.
