Shutdown Timer

Written in Java, Shutdown Timer is a very simple software application that you can use to schedule your computer to shut down or restart on countdown. It doesn't include complicated options or configuration parameters, making it accessible to all types of users.

As long as you have Java installed on your computer, you don't need to set up anything else. This means that you can save Shutdown Timer anywhere on the disk or on a removable storage unit to run it on any PC by just clicking the .jar file. More importantly, it doesn't change Windows registry settings, unlike most installers.

The user-friendly interface is made from a small window that contains a menu for starting the timer, stopping it, and configuring settings.

You can select the action between shutdown and restart, as well as specify the number of seconds until it's carried out. However, you cannot write more than 59 seconds because the app doesn't support larger numbers.

Apart from canceling the task, you can set Shutdown Timer to show the timer, play beeping sound in the last second, and play audio for buttons. There are no other notable options provided by this software application.

The tool didn't hang, crash or display error messages in our tests, and its impact on the overall performance of the machine was minimal. However, it doesn't let you schedule shutdown/restart tasks with a delay past 59 seconds, and the "Cancel" button is ineffective. Actually, pressing it triggers the PC to immediately power off/restart. In conclusion, you should probably look for a more reliable shutdown scheduler.
