JumpControl

JumpControl enables you to quickly perform a power management option on your computer, such as shutdown or restart. This is a simple-to-use software application that gets pinned to the taskbar and lets you pick the options to display in its menu.

Provided that you have .NET Framework installed on your PC, you don't need to set up anything else. It's possible to save JumpControl anywhere on the hard drive or on a removable storage unit to directly run it on any machine with minimum effort. It shouldn't modify your Windows registry settings, unlike most installers.

After running JumpControl, you are greeted by the configuration panel where you can choose the items to show in the quick launch menu: shut down, restart or lock the workstation, send it into sleeping mode, switch to another user, log off the user, or restart Windows Explorer.

In the following step, all you have to do is pin JumpControl to the taskbar by opening the icon's right-click menu. All tasks are listed in the context menu, so you can rapidly select one anytime, regardless of the application you're working in. Any power options can be disabled by returning to the configuration panel.

As we expected, the software utility didn't put a strain on the overall performance of the machine in our tests, thanks to the fact that it needed a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly. No error dialogs popped up and it didn't hang or crash.
