MDT EasyShutDown

MDT EasyShutDown is a compact application that facilitates a quick method for turning off, restarting or sending your computer to sleep. It gets integrated into the system tray, thus enabling you to proceed with your typical desktop activity and, at the same time, gain easy access to the power management options.

The program is practical when working with fullscreen applications since it gives you the possibility to seamlessly send a power option for the computer by just clicking a couple of times in the system tray area.

The downloaded setup file gets unpacked fast and with little effort on your behalf, thanks to the fact that only basic options are displayed in the wizard. However, .NET Framework must be installed on the PC, since the app won't launch otherwise (newer Windows iterations have this software framework built in).

Once fired up, MDT EasyShutDown creates an icon on the system tray but doesn't attract attention through balloon messages or audio alerts to signal its presence.

By opening the right-click menu of this icon, you can instruct the computer to go to sleep, restart or shut down. This action can be performed on demand or after 30 seconds, which should give you enough time to save ongoing work. However, the operation can be canceled if delay was applied, in case you change your mind.

Unsurprisingly from this compact software utility, MDT EasyShutDown didn't hamper the performance of the workstation in our tests, since it consumed little RAM and CPU.

Although the developer hasn't updated it for a while, the program didn't experience compatibility issues with the newest Windows iteration in our tests. Thanks to its straightforward options, the app can be tackled even by casual PC users.
