Windows 8 Quick Shutdown

With the launch of Windows 8 back in 2012, the classic 'Start menu' vanished and with it, the quick access to a computer's power options. As a consequence, users complained about not being able to quickly shutdown or restart their Windows 8 PC and various applications were developed to fullfill this request.

One of them is suggestively called Windows 8 Quick Shutdown, a simple and lightweight software solution ready to provide one-click access to power functions, enabling the user to quickly shutdown or restart the computer, as well as lof off the current user.

Windows 8 Quick Shutdown does not require installation and as soon as you launch it, it places itself in the computer's system tray, waiting for your commands.

Right-clicking the system tray icon reveals a menu that enables you to access the power functions of exit the application. The application opens up a new window comprising options for shutting down or rebooting the computer, alongside a button dedicated to logging off the current user.

Unfortunately, the application does not include hibernation or sleeping functionality, which lowers its overall value with respect to other similar tools out there.

Windows 8 Quick Shutdown is a handy tool to have around if you don't want to access the 'Settings' section to shutdown or restart your Windows 8 PC. It enables you to power off or reboot the computer much easier and faster, as well as log off the current user with just two clicks.
