Handle running processes by terminating them through a simple operation, or use the controls to shutdown, restart, logoff, or hibernate #Computer shutdown #Restart computer #Process manager #Shutdown #Restart #Reboot
The Windows Task Manager is capable of handling quite the variety of system dedicated options and functions. However, you’re not limited to these default tools, and you can also rely on third-party applications. For instance, Windows System Manager is a slim version of the Task Manager, which can also perform power options.
First of all, the application isn’t packed inside an installer, so you can take it for a spin from the moment download is done. This also makes it possible to use it as your personal system manager directly from a thumb drive, without affecting stability of the target PC, because registry entries are not altered in the process.
Unlike the Task Manager, Windows System Manager provides all of its features in a rather simple interface which makes it easy for beginners and experienced individuals alike to get the hang of things. A list shows all running processes, while power options are found in a small toolbar. There’s also a slider with which to adjust the refresh rate for processes.
Unfortunately, the process list doesn’t come with additional details apart from the process name, and beginners might find it difficult to check what processes don’t respond, or how much resources they take up, nor do you find any options to filter processes. As far as related operations go, you can only kill processes, and not assign priorities.
As mentioned, the application can also be used to trigger one of several power options. These only count as shutdown, logoff, restart, and hibernate. The application can’t get minimized or sent to the tray area. A cool hint is to assign a hotkey command to its shortcut to easily launch it from any Explorer location.
Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Windows System Manager is a rather poor choice when it comes to management of running processes, or even shutting down your computer.
