PowerDisk

PowerDisk is a hybrid application that will help one clean useless junk lying in their computer but also provide a more general picture of space usage in a certain machine. The whole idea behind this program is to help the user improve computer performance by appropriately scanning and identifying culprit files, and scheduling them for immediate removal upon discovery. I found this program to be simple, but effective against stolen space.

I must say that I felt this app did try to include too many elements in its interface. This was most notable when launching it for the first time. The interface is modern, but there simply is too much going on for one to actually identify quickly what to do next. Even so, there were plenty of options to choose from.

I started by checking the Disk Usage Explorer in order to understand how much space I could recover and most importantly to have a general view of how bad the space problem really was in my particular case. In terms of how removable files are categorized, the application splits them into groups such as junk files, old files, and large or duplicate folders. These are just some of the ideas taken into consideration.

I began the whole procedure by scanning the one and only drive I had under management. As a result, a series of deletable files popped up. The app did once again make it clear as to what and how much of it I was going to delete. Yes, you can opt out of deleting any particular files. This makes it easier for beginners to break something, especially if they feel unsure about certain changes.

PowerDisk gives your drive its power back, and that ultimately means more performance and improved productivity for you and your machine. It is fair to say the application manages to do its jobs as described.
