Window Walker

Everyone knows you can use the Alt-Tab key combination to switch between open windows, but finding a specific one becomes quite difficult when you have numerous windows to choose from.

Window Walker is a small, open-source application that lets you do things a little differently – it displays all open windows in a list, and it allows you find the one you need using keywords or user-defined shortcuts.

There is, essentially, nothing to set up before using this program. You don’t have to go through an installation procedure beforehand, and the application can be launched from any location.

Once you have opened it, Window Walker will run quietly in the background. It can be accessed by pressing the Alt+Win keys, and you can shut it down by typing the :quit command in the search box.

Upon bringing up the program window, you will be presented with a simple search box and a list of all active windows. You can select the one you need using the arrow keys, and the rest will be faded out to make things easier for you.

Of course, you also have the option of searching for the window you need to access using keywords. The program gets matches based on the window title and process name, so finding the right window shouldn’t be too difficult.

Lastly, Window Walker allows you to create quick shortcuts for various terms, enabling you to bring up a specific window by typing just one or two characters.

In the end, Window Walker isn’t suitable for all users, as it only saves you time if you frequently work with numerous open windows at once. It that case, however, it can make finding specific windows a lot easier.
