The first thing you need to know about Windows 8.1 Update Rollup is the fact that you can apply this update if your computer runs Windows 8.1, as well as Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2.

Secondly, if you want to install any language packs, you should do this BEFORE you apply the update rollup, as Microsoft warns that failing to do so actually reverts the effects of the update.
