Get a better view of files that take up the most space on physical, or removable drives, create custom file filters to narrow down results, and jump to source folder to take action. #File distribution #Space usage #Disk usage #Structure #File type #Scanner
Even if you do consider running out of disk space is no longer a concern, you might want to think again, as programs, video games, and even multimedia files can end to eat up most of the space in no time. However, this can be taken care of with the help of applications like Disk Files which display files and folders according to a wide range of filters.
The application stores all of its features in a visually appealing interface, making, on the one hand, accommodation easy for individuals of all levels of experience, and analysis of files efficient because of the organized manner of the design. A large table enlists all files, while a smaller panel lets you select the target drive.
You can choose to scan almost any kind of storage device, both internal and external. In their corresponding panel, you can also view file system type, total, and free space, with the possibility to select more drives to be scanned.
One might expect the scan process to take a little while, but it’s done quite fast, even for a pretty overwhelmed, large drive. Once scanning is done, a prompt shows up, letting you view the total number of video, audio, image, documents, and other file types, as well as how much space they take on the target drive.
By default, the application enlists all files by size in a descending order, in a top 500 mode. A drop-down menu lets you choose different filters, which also enables ordering by column headers for specific types of details. Related options allow you to quickly jump to the source folder, and bring up the properties panel for more details.
That’s not all, because with a simple filter customization option, the application can be tweaked to target only a small group of file types of interest. Preset categories are already configured with appropriate file extensions, but you can add more with custom values.
All things considered, we come to the conclusion that Disk Files saves you a great deal of time whenever you want to free up some disk space. Impressively enough, the scan process takes little time, while preset filters help narrow down results. Filters can be built from scratch, and even though no management options are implemented, you can quickly jump to source folder to take action.
