Generate a list of all environment variables which shows the same report as the Command Prompt SET function, but in a clean list from which a copy operation is easily performed #Environment variable #Variable viewer #Show environment variables #Environment variables #Variable #Viewer
Everything running on your computer uses some amount of system resources, which are requested and read through Windows. There are different specialized files which hold these variables, and you can rely on applications like EnvarList to generate a report of these source files which can help in programming and debugging.
On the bright side of things, the application saves you the effort of going through a setup process, and can thus be run right after download. You can store it on a USB flash drive to perform system check and report generation of environment variables on other computers, and this is done without affecting the target health status or registry entries.
The application’s core function is to read your system’s environment variables, which might not be so easy to understand by individuals of all levels of experience. In fact, the results are identical to the ones requested through the SET function in Command Prompt, but without any possibility of manipulating variables.
All these values are generated on the spot, and you don’t necessarily have to run the application with administrator privileges to have details properly read. Sadly, EnvarList doesn’t come with any export options, unless you manually select and copy all details to clipboard, since they’re displayed in a non-editable text pad. It would have been useful for a report to be automatically generated.
In case you never used the SET command, you might want to know that environment variables show info regarding processor type and architecture, user info and local paths, Visual Studio versions and work directories, logon server, root drive, including any virtual environments installed, even if third-party.
EnvarList is a minimized version of the Command Prompt SET function, which only displays environment variables. Results are shown in a clean interface you can even carry around on a thumb drive, and export by copying fields of interest.
