Gamepad Battery Monitor

No one wants their controller to die in the middle of a game, but it is difficult to monitor your gamepad’s battery level when using it to play on your PC. Thankfully, there are specialized utilities out there that can help you out.

Gamepad Battery Monitor is a very simple application that tracks the charge level of all connected controllers and can display notifications when the battery level drops too low. It is very unobtrusive, but it may need some more tweaks.

Once downloaded, you can launch the application instantly without going through a setup process beforehand. All connected gamepads should be detected in a matter of seconds, provided they have been turned on.

This program is designed to work with any XInput compatible gamepads, including the Xbox 360, Xbox One and NVIDIA SHIELD controllers.

Gamepad Battery Monitor will be minimized to the tray area automatically, and it will continue to run in the background and track your devices’ charge level. If you want to check your controllers, you only need to right-click the tray icon.

The application displays each device’s battery level as full, medium, low or empty. In order to change the notification preferences, you need to open the Settings panel from the context menu.

The program is designed to alert you when a device’s battery level drops below a certain value, which you can customize. It can generate a popup notification, vibrate the gamepad or even trigger a spoken notification.

However, even though it is possible to test the notification settings, we were not able to generate any alerts during our tests.

On the whole, Gamepad Battery Monitor is a simple utility that doesn’t offer a lot of features but should still get the job done. It can help you monitor the battery level of multiple gamepads while running quietly in the background.
