Detects all the hotkeys that are registered with the RegisterHotKey API and reveals the applications that respond to each of the hotkeys. #Hotkey viewer #Hotkey mapper #Windows hotkey #Hotkey #Shortcut #Viewer
There is no doubt that hotkeys streamline your workflow and that is why most applications associate shortcut keys with frequently used commands. Problems occur when a hotkey conflict occurs, meaning a software program tries to use a hotkey already taken by another. Hotkey Screener provides a quick and easy method for you to check out a list of hotkeys and see which program is responding to the same key combination you are trying to use.
There is no need to install the application, as it is completely portable. This means you can launch it on the go, whenever needed, from a removable drive or locally. Please keep in mind that administrative privileges might be required to retrieve all the hotkeys and detect the application that responds to a key combination. Alternatively, you can place the executable file of Hotkey Screener into a “Program Files” directory.
The application’s main window is immediately populated with a list of all the hotkeys in use on your computer. Hotkey Screener extracts its data from the RegisterHotKey API, displaying all the system-wide hotkeys registered on the local machine.
Hotkey Screener displays the key combinations within its main window, but it does not reveal the associated applications. If you are interested in a single hotkey, then you should know it can be revealed with the click of a button. Hotkey Screener shows its name and its process identification number.
Moreover, you can command Hotkey Screener to reveal them all by simulating hotkey presses and catching applications that use them. Please save your work before doing so, as too many emulations of hotkey presses might result in blocking the hotkey completely.
Although simple, Hotkey Screener displays a list of all the system-wide hotkeys, regardless of whether we are talking about 64-bit and 32-bit processes, running with regular or administrative rights. It allows you to extract details about hotkeys and the applications they are associated with, allowing you to manage hotkey conflicts much easier
