IPMI Tool GUI

IPMI Tool GUI is specifically designed for machines that have access to a server or a workstation with a baseboard management controller that uses the IPMI protocol. In fact, this application is nothing more than a frontend for the ipmitool.exe tool, delivering a user-friendly standard GUI for this application.

A simple design is the key when it comes to such as application and IPMI Tool GUI fulfills this request. The main window is split into two separate panels, one for viewing and managing hosts, and the other for displaying data about the sensors.

Adding a new host requires you to fill in a simple form to specify the system name, the IP address, as well as the username and password, if any. Each host is assigned an individual and unique ID, available in the second column. Editing host fields or deleting them altogether is possible with the click of a button.

IPMI Tool GUI reads data related to the sensors of the monitored Baseboard Management Controllers. These are computers that allow out-of-band monitoring, both for desktop systems and servers, created by all the major manufacturers: HP, Dell , Fujitsu, IBM. In a form or other, nearly all the workstations and servers have embedded or support a BMC.

The main window shows the status of the sensor, reading data, as well as low and high limits for monitored parameters. The read data in the table can be refreshed with the click of a button.

While in these early stages of development, the application can only retrieve information about the sensors of the BMC, future plans include event logs, fan and user controls, network display and control, and many more settings. Also, be advised that all the passwords are stored in the hosts file, in plain sight, but maybe this setting will be changed in future releases.
