Process Controller

Process Controller is a lightweight piece of software designed to give you more control over the way various running processes use resources. To be more precise, the program enables you to set priorities for the IO, RAM and CPU for any running process, priorities that remain unchanged between reboots.

According to the developer, the application supplements the need for an advanced prioritization engine that no version of Windows actually had. While it is true that you can manage to set priorities on resource consumption for Windows processes, achieving this is a rather tedious task in general. Moreover, you need to undergo lengthy trials and errors to get the correct combination of values for the desired test system.

Thanks to the application, now you can set the priorities without having to bother with finding the correct threshold values. The app comes with a simple and user-friendly interface that allows you to specify the RAM, IO and CPU priority on a five scale points, namely High, Above Normal, Normal, Below Normal and Idle.

As far as its applicability is concerned, the program can come in handy when you are setting up a database – such as SQL, Exchange Terminal/Citrix, for instance – and you are having some troubles with managing the agent during the backups.
