PC Resource Manager

In order for applications to keep up the pace with evolving technology and decrease the possibility of issues to occur, they are constantly upgraded with more or less significant modifications. Keeping track of these changes in a closed environment can be done easily with the help of dedicated utilities such as PC Resource Manager.

The application features two components, one required on the main computer while the other needs to be installed on targeted ones. The client counterpart is nothing more than a series of settings applied to the system to allow the main control console to detect it and gather info.

All features are stored in a simple interface, with an upper toolbar hosting major functions, while the rest of the space being divided in an explorer section and one that displays details regarding a selected category. Options you get to work with are pretty shallow and can sometimes create confusion, the application only serving informative purposes.

With no settings required to be applied to the client, the only thing left to do is to provide the IP where search to be conducted. Depending on the number of connected machines, it can take a while to get ahold of the list. Gathered objects are displayed in a tree list, containing info fields for CPU, BaseBoard, DiskDrive, VideoController, NetworkAdapter, Software and a few others.

The core function provides thorough details regarding type and model of selected queries, but most importantly the current version. The application is supposed to constantly keep an eye on computers on which the client is deployed and send generated reports regarding change in software or hardware version changes to an account of your choice.

To sum it up, PC Resource Manager can give you a helping hand when your role implies monitoring changes in computers connected to the same local network. Detailed reports can also be issued, with customizable displayed fields which can be printed out. The overall design leaves a little something to be desired, but it manages to do a pretty good job.
