Keeping a close eye on system resources is not an overly complicated task. The problem, however, is that Windows doesn’t offer a straightforward way to check all of them at once. Pachtop is a lightweight utility designed to help you monitor system resources in real time.

The application comes with a modern and sleek interface that is quite flexible in displaying the information based on how you resize the main window. Essentially, the GUI consists of a single window that includes real time graphics with the usage of the CPU, RAM, Swap memory and network.

It is worth mentioning that even though the app features a tab dubbed Processes, it is not currently functional. It is probably a feature that will be added later on along with other relevant items to monitor, such as battery usage and disk usage, for instance. The developer does point out that most features are experimental and subject to change.

While it is true that the tool may seem like it’s lacking something, the truth is that it has potential, especially if you are looking for something simple and clear to check out how the system reacts when you are doing certain actions.

The program includes some very basic system information, namely the current operating system, hostname and kernel along the brand and vendor of the CPU. It would have been nice if the app included more detailed information about the components so that you can look them up and learn more about them if you ever want to replace one of them.

Pachtop is a straightforward application that does a great job at displaying the system resource usage in real time and displaying the data in neat, modern graphics.
