Windows Defender is the built-in shield of Windows 10 and 11, providing on-going protection against the various threats that could reach your computer. The actions this security tool takes are logged into the system, but viewing them requires you to use the Windows Event Viewer or browse the ”ProgramData” folder. WinDefLogView was created to avoid this hassle.

This particular application is practically a log viewer for Windows Defender, enabling you to view the list of alerts and the actions taken. With its help, you can browse a list of threats that were previously detected by Windows Defender but in a more organized manner.

The application requires no installation, which is definitely a plus. Designed with functionality in mind rather than looks, it features a simplistic interface that is immediately populated with the list of threats as extracted from the Windows log files.

As such, you can view the name of the infected file and its path, the time of detection, the threat name, category and its severity, as evaluated by Windows Defender. Moreover, the software utility enables you to view the name of the logged in user at the time of detection, the action taken, the theat ID and the time of the event in the Windows logs.

While sometimes you might need to simply monitor the Windows Defender log, other times you might want to export all this data to a file for later reference or sharing with others. WinDefLogView allows you to do so and, moreover, it offers you the possibility to select the columns to export, in case not all are needed in the report.

Selected items can be exported as a text file, but other formats are also supported, such as CSV and HTML or XML.
