Windows comes with a built-in task manager and while this is a pretty powerful and reliable tool, it is just not enough to some users. If you feel like you need to be more in control over the running processes and really know what is running on your PC and what is happening in the background, then an application such as System Explorer might do the trick.
System Explorer is, in fact, an alternative to the Windows Task Manager, but with a few additional features that make it worth your while. For instance, it allows you to view all the running processes within an organized table and color codes them by their status. In other words, you will be able to quickly spot new processes, terminated and protected ones, as well as services just by looking at their color.
You can explore a processes’ properties, check out its environment details and the token properties and explore its list of threads, modules, handles and its memory map. As you probably notice, there is much more detailed information about the running processes on the PC than Task Manager offers. With just two clicks, you can kill a process you select or change its priority class.
System Explorer opens a new tab for a list of threads, handles and memory-related issues of a process. Concerning the latter item, you are shown the free and the committed memory cells, their memory address and size, as well as the protection state. To put it another way, the whole memory map of a process is revealed.
The application makes it possible for you to take a look at objects and handles, pipes and mailslots, providing support for a wide range of types, including events, files, jobs, keys, processes, semaphores, timers, tokens, symbolic links, semaphores and so on.
System Explorer provides a broad information array that experienced users and network managers surely find useful. It is like an enhanced task manager for Windows, with extra functionality ready to offer an in-depth insight of the host system. In fact, with just a click, you can replace the Windows Task Manager with System Explorer and benefit from all its features at all times.
