Automation does not only refer to the controversial takeover of jobs by powerful machines. When using a computer, you find that automation can prove quite useful. There are tons of utilities out there that aim to bring a little more comfort to the way you go on with day-to-day activities. It's also the case with ClickyMouse Professional Edition, letting you create unlimited macros of all kinds.

The application is pretty complex and you might feel a little overwhelmed if you attempt to dive directly into its set of features. However, this is taken care of by a clever interactive tutorial of which you are asked to be part of at first. Even if you're familiar with creating macros it's recommended that you go through with it, not only because you can still learn a thing or two, but it's designed in a fun way, making a proper first impression.

In terms of visuals, the interface you get to work with poses no accommodation problems whatsoever. Your workspace is split into several panels that let you quickly access all created commands, view corresponding options and further add details. General settings are stored in an upper toolbar where you also find a wizard-driven creation option.

If you didn't go along with the tutorial, you can still take a look at the commands used. These also serve as a suitable template for you to work on and experiment with different features, since they cover most aspects.

There are several methods through which you can trigger created functions. Besides activating them through built-in methods, like mouse gestures or hotkeys, you can create a desktop shortcut for quick launch, export as HTML content with all settings, or generate a portable command compatible with FreeMacroPlayer.

However, what makes the application truly deserve its professional part in the title is the impressive amount and diversity of presets you can directly apply. Simply taking look at all categories leaves you speechless, with options like registries, advanced scripting, keystrokes, mouse and keyboard, run, form, files and folders, display, printer and system being only a few.

It's difficult to describe the horizon of possibilities that instantly become available. Picking from presets is not the only way to create a command. To avoid this tough decision, you can either use the wizard, or go through several steps to specify triggers, events, actions or manually write down commands.

What's more, a macro can be made out of multiple steps triggers and events, for specific windows or general purpose, further adding to flexibility. For a faster approach, the application comes equipped with a record function that monitors your actions in an attempt to remember and repeat them at your command.

It might take a while to properly set up a set of commands and test them out, but the result doesn't disappoint. The application spends its time in the system tray when not used, with the possibility to also make it run on startup to have all commands at your fingertips as soon as you reach the desktop.

We had a great time going through all that ClickyMouse Professional Edition had to offer, and surely so will you. Even if you feel overwhelmed by the abundance of possibilities, you're quickly pointed towards the right direction by the interactive tutorial, which also serves as testing ground and starting point for your ideas. Sure, a great deal of time and effort need to be put into properly setting up commands, but the result can mean the automation of literally anything at the cost of patience and only a few system resources. If you're having trouble with monotony then you certainly haven't been introduced to this app.
