Shut down the Desktop Window Manager process in Windows 8, 10 and 11 when it tends to eat up too many resources and RAM via this tool #Kill DWM #Shut down DWM #End DWM #DWM #Desktop Window Manager #Process
DWM or Desktop Window Manager is a legitimate process that has the role of creating and customizing the GUI and enhancing visual effects, including 3D animation, taskbar thumbnails and wallpapers. Sometimes, the process tends to eat quite a large amount of RAM and causes the computer to run slow and sluggish.
While you could simply kill the process with Vista and Windows 7, all that changed with Windows 8. DWM KILLER is a tiny tool designed to kill the process when it starts consuming too much resources and particularly, memory.
Considering that DMW.exe is a common process in Windows, first you should try to restart it. The process cannot be simply killed with Windows 8, 10 and 11 and hence, one thing to try is to access it from the Task Manager and hit the kill process from the context menu. What this does is restart the process and hopefully, everything will run smoothly afterwards.
It is important to note that before you kill the process, you should check your PC and determine whether a component or app is not releasing the shared video memory. As many point out, the excessive RAM consumption could be a simple indicator that it may be time to update the graphics driver.
