File extensions are rarely the concern of casual users of computers. Still, these are very important and affect all individuals using a PC. What happens if you'd like to go to the next level and adjust some settings regarding this aspect and require the ability to edit registry files?
As luck would have it, one possible solution could be an app called FileExtensionsManager. This app allows one to add and apply custom settings for file extensions registered in the OS.
Now, the idea behind this app is to fix possible errors with application extensions or alter registry entries in an attempt to make certain files behave in the desired way. Compatibility issues and similar problems could also be eradicated by changing file associations with extensions in any registry files.
The entries are displayed using color-coding. Existing registry elements will be highlighted in green, whereas missing ones will be red. Blue indicates entries that correspond to some extent to the user's indications, but not entirely.
Once you manage to adjust the entries you desire, these can either be applied one by one or together. This doesn't change anything in the behavior of the program. It only mildly affects how you manage to finish your job. The application allows the user to associate a newly created file type with whatever program is chosen. The icon of the file associated with that program can be altered through the app's rather basic interface. Lastly, the program only seems to be able to work with only one particular registry branch and a few parameter types.
FileExtensionManager is, by all means, an application designed to be used only by individuals who understand how the OS registry works. Using it without knowing exactly what you're doing could lead to computer damage and ultimate software failure.
