RM Easy Control

Windows can be configured to your advantage when things get out of hand, or simply to make it better blend with the type of activities you’re performing. Most system related operations are performed through the Control Panel, and if you frequently rely on that particular location, you can use RM Easy Control to access its components in the blink of an eye.

A neat thing about the application is that it doesn’t require installation in order to properly function, which means it can even be carried around on a USB flash drive to use on other computers as well. Another consequence of portability is that system registries remain intact, thus not affecting the stability of the target PC.

The application spends most of its time in the system tray, and is exactly where you find it as soon as it’s launched. To quickly access areas of the Control Panel, you need to use the corresponding context menu, while normal interaction brings up the settings panel in order to select what appears on the list.

With only a few mouse clicks, you customize the tray icon menu to show only areas like add new hardware, add or remove programs, time and date, display, Internet, joystick, keyboard, mouse, multimedia, modems, network, passwords, regional settings, sounds, system, and tweak UI.

However, there are some third-party components or drivers which can only be accessed from the Control Panel, but you aren’t able to include them on the list, because the application doesn’t let you choose from other than preset locations. What’s more, you need to manually tweak it to run at startup, because it doesn’t integrate itself by default, and there’s no built-in option.

Bottom line is that the Control Panel deserves its name, since it’s the place to view what’s under the hood of Windows and make necessary adjustments. RM Easy Control manages to live up to expectations, providing easy access to some of its sections, even though it could have use minor adjustments like startup integration, or hotkey support.
