Path Manager

Path Manager is a small-sized and portable software application that you can use to view and manage system environment variables as well as fix invalid path entries. It features a backup option. Although it may sound like a complicated program, it actually contains some approachable settings.

Since there is no installation involved, you can save Path Manager anywhere on the disk and just click its executable to launch the tool. Another possibility is to save a copy to a USB flash drive to be able to directly run it on any PC with minimum effort. Unlike most installers, it doesn't change Windows registry settings.

The GUI is user-friendly, consisting of a normal window with a minimalistic look that doesn't put too much emphasis on appearance. It loads the system path entries by default and lets you explore their values, as well switch to other types of data, such as ComSpec, USERNAME, windir, TEMP, PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE or NUMBER_OF_PROCESSORS.

Invalid entries are labeled with a red cross. It's possible to allow or deny files, folders and other values, remove entries from the list and add new ones, as well as to back up the original settings to file and import them later in case any Windows stability issues occur. Apart from the fact that you can refresh data with one click, there are no other noteworthy options available.

No error dialogs popped up in our tests, and the application didn't hang or crash. It had minimal impact on computer performance, running on low CPU and RAM. Taking into account its straightforward interface and options, Path Manager can be handled by all users who want to seamlessly manage environment variables and repair invalid entries.
