Create virtual drives you can easily mount out of regular folders, hide them at the press of a button, and have them ready when reaching the desktop with the startup option. #Drive emulator #Drive virtualizer #Virtual drive maker #Emulator #Virtual drive #Emulate
Sure enough you can access any folder of interest via File Explorer, and even have important ones on the side navigation panel pinned as libraries. Chances are you want to create a secure directory, and Strike Drive offers the possibility to mount it as a virtual drive, which is always accessible from My Computer.
The setup takes you through a short and uneventful process, by the end of which you can choose to have the window brought up. The visual design tries to make sure you don’t spend too much time accommodating with the set of features, and manages to hold all options in a single, well organized window.
The process of creating a drive is pretty simple, but there’s one particularly important aspect missing here. Using the browse dialog doesn’t show existing folders on your computer, but you can paste in the full path inside the dedicated field for more comfort. The browse dialog, however, comes with an option to create new folders, and gives access to the default system context menu.
Before mounting, you need to choose a drive letter from the corresponding drop-down menu. Needless to say that you must specify a different one other than existing drives. When mounted, the folder is shown as a regular drive inside My Computer, with the possibility to perform any kind of file operations.
A virtual drive is easily unmounted, but you can just hide it for security reasons. When not used, the window can be sent to the tray area for more comfort. Sadly, there are no options to quickly mount and unmount drives from the tray area. There’s a built-in option to make the application run with Windows to have drives ready when reaching the desktop.
Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Strike Drive is a pretty straightforward method of creating virtual drives from folders you quickly access. Although devoid of advanced features, or at least a tray menu for quick mount operations, the application does the job as expected.
