Keeping up to date with the latest versions of your apps can be a hassle, especially as each piece of software has its own way of handling updates. Some are automatic, while others rely on user input to look for an update. There's also the matter of putting off some updates just because — maybe you don't feel like updating an app, for instance.

If you're even somewhat familiar with Winget, then Winget-AutoUpdate (WAU) is a tool that will make a lot of sense to you. It uses the aforementioned tool to provide any available updates for your apps, automatically handling the entire process.

Setting up the tool is an easy process: you'll first have to boot it up with elevated rights, and it'll install itself within a minute. After that, it'll start scanning the apps on your system in the background and look for any relevant updates.

Any updates that are found will be automatically installed without requiring further user input. This is very convenient as you won't need to click through prompts or anything like that — if an update is found for a program on your system, it will be installed right away. You'll be notified whenever a new app version has been installed.

Users have the option to exclude certain apps from the automatic update process. This is done via the BlockList, which can be accessed via the excluded_apps.txt file. For this, you'll have to look for the respective app's ID within the Winget database, but it shouldn't be too hard.
