vagrant-hostmap

Vagrant might be one of the handiest platforms for sharing virtual development environments. The services use development-ready boxes, resulting from instructions written into a 'Vagrantfile.' A Box is a file extension that one moves to another machine in order to mimic the same environment.  In cases where one has to manage multiple boxes, their management can become bothersome.

vagrant-hostmap is an experimental tool that might improve one's workflow, if compatible with the configuration. This app should be able to map the IP address of a Vagrant box to a specified hostname. In short, the user will be spared the effort of fetching the box's IP and mapping it to the host. To achieve that, one must install the program and open the CMD tool.

Indeed, there is no GUI to work with, only CMD commands. In fact, only one command is assigned with vagrant-host map, and that is "vagrant-hostmap <hostname>".

All things considered, vagrant-hostmap is not a tool one can rely on unless machine-specific tests are run. As noted by the developer, the software is experimental and might not work with some virtual environments. Other than that, it should be easy to handle as the IP mapping is done by executing a single, tiny command.
