CPU Unpark

With the release of Windows 7, Microsoft integrated a feature called “Windows Core Parking”, whose default settings are configured to maximize power saving. This function is also present in later editions of Windows, up to the latest. However, there might be times when you need to redirect system resources to specific activities, such as working with high-demanding applications or playing a game. One way to do so is to disable the Windows Core Parking feature in Windows and CPU Unpark can help you out in this matter.

This is one of those tiny applications that can prove to be rather useful to have at hand. There is no need to install it, which is also a plus. As soon as you double-click on the main executable file, a small window is displayed, with a minimum set of options. But that is all you will need, actually.

The application reveals the current status of the CPU, and, by default, this status should be “Parked”, as you surely imagine. The status can be verified at any time with the click of a button and it can be changed just as easily.

When the CPU is “unparked”, its cores can run at their highest configuration settings without getting interrupted when idle due to the Windows Core Parking function. As you probably guessed, this will require more resources but, on the other hand, lags and stutters during game sessions for instance might be greatly reduced.
