As you run and use applications or download files, the Windows' temporary folder gets filled with data required for software to work. Unfortunately, these files are not deleted automatically once they are no longer needed and, therefore, you might find yourself with wasted storage space.

One solution to this particular issue is provided by GiMeSpace RAM Folder Pro, an application that makes it possible for data in temporary folders to be stored in the RAM memory instead of on the local disk. Moreover, it also delivers intelligent write caching, which can prolong the life of your storage disks.

The one-window interface of GiMeSpace RAM Folder Pro displays information about the expected read/write speed and allows you to assign up to eight custom RAM folders. By default, the contents of a RAM folder are never written to disk but enabling the cache option for a folder means that files inside it will be saved to disk once the main application is done using them.

GiMeSpace RAM Folder Pro provides additional options to extend your control over how the RAM and temporary folders are used. For instance, it enables you to customize the total amount of RAM memory that can be used for storing temporary files. Up to 16GB of RAM can be used.

Should the available RAM be less than the set amount or the temporary files don't fit in the memory anymore, the application either moves files from RAM to VRAM or starts writing them to disk, your choice.

There is also an option that instructs GiMeSpace RAM Folder Pro to erase all the files in the temp folders upon exit, in the attempt to cleanup your temporary folders easier.

A bit of knowledge regarding hardware, disk and memory allocation is required to completely understand how this application works and how you can get the most out of it.

However, it is a fact that assigning a specific folder as a RAM folder allows quicker file access and, consequently, more responsive programs, including games. Preventing the excess use of the disk as external memory can be beneficial for the SSD's health.
