Create an artificial magnetic field around the edges of the screen so that windows automatically snap when close with the help of this app #Magnetic Window #Stick window #Window magnet #Magnet #Sticky #Window
Some Windows features make your work more comfortable without you even realizing. One particular example here is the Windows Snap feature, which helps you neatly organize desktop elements to fit inside your screen. However, you can enhance these features through third-party applications such as Magnetic Windows Ultimate.
First of all, you need to go through the steps of an installer so the application can deploy on your computer to enable functionality. However, you also need to check whether or not .NET Framework is already on your PC, because it’s a mandatory component for functionality. Chances are it’s already there, because it usually comes packed in the default Windows set of features.
The application usually stays minimized to the tray area, and you don’t even need to use its main window, unless you want to tweak some visual or behavior options. However, one-time management of these options is enough, but some testing of window behavior is also required to get just the right values.
What the application does for you is to create a virtual magnetic field on the edges of your screen, so whenever a window is close, it gets attracted and stuck to a side of the screen. There’s the possibility to adjust the strength of these so-called magnets from the application’s settings panel you bring up through the tray icon.
You can toggle the core functionality by interacting with the icon. There’s the possibility to enable tooltips and show gridlines. Note, however, that guides might cause serious frustration, because it always stays on top of everything, making it close to impossible to interact with anything, even though guides only show up on the sides.
All things considered, we can state that with the modern Snap features of latest Windows installments, Magnetic Windows Ultimate lost a lot of ground. It can’t force magnets around windows themselves, while guides can convince you the entire experience isn’t really worth your while.
What's new in Magnetic Windows Ultimate 2.4.6:
- From this version we change the type of file that contain settings. We go in a proprietary format named *.mwu. You can open and edit normally with Windows Block Note, but we can use free on Windows Vista. The *.ini files are protected on Vista and causes a lot of malfunctions in Magnetic Windows Ultimate.
- Add a Close function in Guides. You can get right mouse click, in notify bar, to close.
