If you own an AMD Ryzen processor that is regularly running too hot, then there are two likely reasons behind it: either the cooler is broken or it simply cannot handle the power of your CPU. It goes without saying that if the cooler is broken, then you need to repair it via a professional. However, if you suspect that the cause is that it cannot handle the power, then you need to adjust it.

RyzenTuner is a lightweight utility designed to help you adjust the power limit of the Ryzen processor and hence, help prolong the lifespan of the battery. The tool doesn’t require installation and you can easily access it from the System Tray after launch. The icon in the System Tray provides some details about the current status of the processor, namely its current power limit, CPU usage and temperature.

The program provides multiple power modes that you can experiment with. If you don’t really know what you are doing, then it is recommended you opt for the Automatic mode, as it selects the values based on different conditions, such as whether the plug-in is active or the night mode is activated, to name a couple. The other modes - Standby, Balanced and Performance - act in a similar way to the power modes in Windows.
