Even though people use it all the time, few actually acknowledge the mouse cursor's importance. In fact, most users notice there is something wrong only when the cursor is not visible on their desktop, especially since in normal computer usage the mouse plays mostly on orientation. Regardless of how users may feel about the topic, its role becomes significantly critical during presentations and tutorials.

ShowMouse is a lightweight utility designed for the sole purpose of highlighting the mouse cursor on the desktop. The program is as minimalistic as possible and does not even come with an interface, which is rather fair considering the nature of the utility. Once opened, the tool displays a small ripple effect on the mouse clicks, regardless of the button you press. A nice touch is that the ripples have different colors each time, whereas the effect is toggling between exploding and imploding.

It would have been nice if the tool came with Settings that allow selecting the color and effect, particularly as if the tool were to be used in presentations and tutorials. Without denying that most would have a white or light-colored background, some users prefer the dark mode. There is a chance that the colors and effects are not even visible.
