WinLube

Spending time on your PC, be it by gaming intensely, installing and uninstalling software day by day or just casual browsing on YouTube eventually leads to a build-up of cache files, broken shortcuts, and redundant data. Eventually, these occupy disk space and can cause system issues such as performance spikes and even system freezes. That is where a performance tweaking app such as WinLube can come in handy

The main menu of the app gives you a general overview of your system's current state, giving you a better idea as to what to do to improve its performance.  Winlube is also very beginner friendly: once inside the main menu, instead of going through each tab and selecting individual tweaks and performance boosts you need to apply, you can simply press the "Instant tuning" button to instantly start a basic scanning for the most common system issues that you can encounter.

The "Clean-up" tab gives access to multiple disk space optimization tools, such as clean-up hard disk, registry, and memory. All these aspects help reduce the space occupied by files and folder that no longer have any function and originate from uninstalled programs or badly created registries.  It allows you to check all locations for possible redundant files, including cache, cookies, recycle bin and you "Recent' list. After scanning for the files, you can choose which to keep and which to permanently discard.

The "Tuning" tab allows you to access various tools that allow your system's performance to increase, including common ones like system defrag or the option of managing which apps start with Windows and which don't. The "Customize Windows" tab allows you to configure the security of Windows and its components, such as the User Account Control and the Firewall. 

Actual customization is achieved through the "Windows Behaviour" and "Manage File Associations" options, which give you the option of configuring the looks of your Windows and its icons, along with how it behaves and what program opens what file. You can configure your operating system (OS) and set which OS should be used upon system boot.

The last tab of the app is the "Maintenance" tab which allows you to perform system maintenance operations such as physical memory error checks and the WInLube file shredder which allows secure file deletion. You may also repair broken shortcuts and observe graphical representations of how your disk memory is being used.

WinLube is a great tool for when you want to maintain your PC at peak condition, or at least prolong the time between OS reinstalls or hardware replacements.
