Countdown Widget from Target

Countdown Widget from Target is a small gadget designed for Yahoo! Widget Engine, which gives users the possibility to configure countdown timers for important events, such as Christmas, Easter, New Year's Eve and other holidays, as well as other special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, school breaks or vacation days.

Yahoo! Widget Engine is a discontinued software framework, so it's no longer in development. However, it can still be downloaded and installed from Softpedia to run various gadgets, such as this one.

To set it up and integrate it with the engine's vertical dock, it's only necessary to open the downloaded file and confirm the action. It also has a desktop frame separate from the one blended with the dock, which invites users to access the configuration panel and set up the countdown.

This task can be done by indicating the name, month and day of the upcoming event. Countdown Widget from Target starts counting down in real time, so there's no need to save the modifications just to be able to view the remaining days. Moreover, the widget style can be set to module (with the frame encompassing the caption and buttons) or transparent (without it).

There are no features implemented for setting up two or more events at the same time with distinct countdown timers. Using the range of built-in options supplied by Yahoo! Widget Engine, which are applicable to all widgets, it's possible to keep the frame on top or below other windows, disregard mouse dragging and other events, or adjust the transparency level.
