Widgets may not be as popular now as they were back in the Windows 7 and Vista days, but they are nevertheless still an option to consider if you want to style your desktop a little. Some users appreciate widgets for the customization they offer, and there's certainly a wide variety of styles to try for your desktop.

WidgetBox offers users a collection of widgets that may be to your liking. They look quite sleek and modern, and they can bring a neat sense of style to your desktop, all while offering some useful options: battery percentage, calculator, and inspirational quotes, among others.

These widgets are as easy to apply as you would expect: start up the app, and you'll be able to select the ones you wish to add from the list. It's worth noting that only 10 selected widgets are available in the Free tier, so if there's something you like, but is locked, it's most likely behind the Pro subscription.

Aside from that, perhaps the hardest part is picking which widgets to use. The selection for the Free version may not be the largest, but the widgets themselves look quite polished, and can be integrated with your desktop without much trouble. Their design certainly favors that, as it blends well with the overall design of Windows 10 and 11. What helps is that you can freely choose between light and dark mode for each of your widgets — you can even mix and match them.

Ten widgets are unlocked in the Free version, and the functionality they can provide varies. You have a few date and time widgets, some with more information than others, as well as a few battery percentage ones. There are even two widgets that can display bible and inspirational quotes on your desktop.

For the more practical ones, you have the Calculator and Quick Access widgets. The former allows you to calculate basic math operations, while the latter grants you the ability to quickly open your Documents, Pictures, Music, and Downloads folders.

The widgets provided through WidgetBox look well-made, and they certainly offer both form and function with their designs.
