DCR is the standard file extension for the images captured by Kodak digital cameras, particularly the SLR ones. Since DCR files are uncompressed images, they cannot be printed and edited before having been saved to other formats.

Additionally, the data saved in DCR images is exactly as it was captured by the camera's sensor, without any compression and color modification.
